Trinamool Congress today ruled out backing a Narendra Modi-led or a BJP-led government at the Centre after the Lok Sabha elections.

"If it is a Modi-led government, then doors are shut and the keys have been thrown away," Trinamool Congress spokesperson Derek O' Brien told PTI.

"No," he replied when asked further whether his party would back a BJP-led government.

"One thing is certain that Trinamool Congress will emerge as the third largest party in the Lok Sabha after the elections," he said.

In an interview to 'Times Now', Modi, asked if his attacks on Mayawati, Mamata Banerjee and Jayalalithaa during campaign might have harmed any future alliance with them in case BJP-led NDA did not get majority, the BJP's PM candidate had said politics was not conducted on the basis of what was said during campaigning.

He had insisted BJP would get a clear majority and form the 'strongest and most stable government' since Rajiv Gandhi's government in 1984.
