Rejecting argument that the proposed NCTC would infringe on states' rights, Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi today favoured setting up of the overarching body to effectively tackle terror related issues.
"There is no question of infringement. I don't think," Gogoi told reporters when asked about his view on the argument of the states' opposing the proposed National Counter Terrorism Centre.
The Chief Minister said that the states have got "enough autonomy" and the constitutional authority could not be infringed.
"States have enough autonomy. I was there for three years when NDA was there (at the Centre). What about the constitutional authority given to the states. Who can take (it) unless the Constitution is amended," he asked.

His statement came amidst a renewed debate on how to counter terror and BJP stating that it is opposed to NCTC in its present form that gave it policing powers.
The BJP also alleged that Congress was playing politics and being "double-faced" on the issue due to which the anti-terror fight was being weakened and said it was meaningless to debate the "imaginary federalism-versus- terrorism" issue.
