No RBI permission taken by PIA for purchasing props in Delhi

Government today said Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has not obtained "prior permission" from the RBI for purchasing six flats in Delhi for itself.

The case is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) at present.

The government also denied that Pakistan's national airline had purchased any land in the national capital.

"As per the records of the New Delhi Municipal Corporation, no land has been purchased by Ms Pakistan International Airlines. However, six flats No 519, 520, 608, 609 and 611 along with six car parking spaces in the basement in the Narain Manzil, 23, Barakhamba road, New Delhi have been purcashed by the PIA.
 

"The Directorate of Enforcement has informed that on enquiry from Ms Pakistan International Airlines, it was found that they had not obtained prior persmission from RBI before purchasing the above propertuies," Minister of State for Home Haribhai Parathibhai Chaudhary told Lok Sabha in a written reply.
