No respite from cold wave conditions in Punjab and Haryana

There was no respite from cold wave conditions in Punjab and Haryana with Amritsar recording month's lowest temperature at 1.5 degrees Celsius.

Amritsar which reeled at 4.2 deg C yesterday recorded this month's lowest minimum, five notches below normal, a MeT report said.

Narnaul in Haryana also continued to reel under cold conditions recording a low of 3.4 deg C, down three notches while Hisar experienced a cold night at 4 deg C, two below normal, the MeT Department here said.

Cold conditions also continued to sweep Karnal, where the low settled at 5.4 deg C, down two notches while Ambala recorded a below normal low at 7.4 deg C.
 

Chandigarh, where people were greeted by warm sunshine today, experienced the cold weather during night as the minimum settled at 6.4 deg C, down two notches.

Cold weather also prevailed at Ludhiana and Patiala, with both Punjab towns recording below normal minimums of 7.1 deg C and 7.4 deg C, respectively.

According to the MeT, the minimum temperatures would continue to hover below normal levels in the two states until tomorrow.
