He made the statement while intervening DMK member A P Nandakumar, who raised concerns over possible retrenchment at the factory.

Pandiarajan said Chief Minister K Palaniswami had spoken to the Defence Minister and she had assured that there will be no such move in the defence establishment. He said the jobs of personnel working for the OCF were secure.

When the DMK member spoke on large number of migrant construction workers coming to Tamil Nadu for work, Labour Minister Nilofer Kafeel said as many as 17,949 such workers have been enrolled in the Tamil Nadu Construction Workers Welfare Board.

The board was set up for the welfare of construction workers and Tamil Nadu has more than 25 lakhs workers involved in various construction activities, according to the government. Regulating their work conditions, improving their socio-economic conditions and ensuring social security were its mandate.
