There has been no suspected case of Ebola virus in Rajasthan, a senior government health official said today.

No person was found having symptoms of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) nor anyone reported to any hospital in Ajmer, state Medical and Health Director Dr B K Meena told PTI on telephone.

He said it was sheer rumour since morning about there being a suspected case of the virus in Ajmer.

The director said the reason behind the rumour could be that a couple which had returned to the town from West Africa had undergone some surveillance at the airport in Jaipur.

The state Medical and Health Department has issued guidelines to government-run hospitals to keep a close vigil on any suspected patient, he said.

The Union Health Ministry recently issued guidelines to train the immigration officers at identified airports on how to deal with the passengers travelling from the affected countries.
