Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya today rubbished reports that Telangana and Andhra Pradesh Governor ESL Narasimhan had a discussion with Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao over Telangana likely to incur a loss of up to Rs 2,000 crore per month following the demonetisation move.
Dattatreya said he met the Governor amid media reports that the Telangana government was likely to incur a revenue loss of up to Rs 1,000-2,000 crore per month due to scrapping of 500 and Rs 1,000 bank notes.
He clarified that the Governor has denied these reports.
"I met the Governor in this regard. He has said that no such discussion was held between him and the Telangana Chief Minister. He said the discussion was on reorganisation of budget," the Union Labour Minister told reporters here.
He said he would meet Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Monday and take up this matter.
When asked whether Telangana could actually suffer any loss in revenue due to demonetisation, he said, "We have to wait till January next."
The BJP leader said the 150 Centrally-sponsored schemes in the state would not be affected regarding funds.
"Though, citizens are facing some hardship due to demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes by standing in long queues near banks and post offices, but the fact is that they are appreciating the Modi government for the bold measure taken to curb black money," Dattatreya added.
