There has been no trace of three fishermen who jumped into the sea after their trawler caught fire early this week and efforts are on to locate them, officials said today.

Three fishermen were killed and as many went missing after their trawler "Bahubali" caught fire in the Arabian Sea off Jakhau coast after midnight on January 9. The fishing vessel's captain was rescued by fishermen from another boat operating in the area.

The missing fishermen had jumped into the sea to escape the blaze.

The search for the missing fishermen has been intensified, an official from a Marine Police Station at Okha in Devbhoomi Dwarka district, around 500km from here, told PTI over phone.

Sadul Vaghela, captain of the ill-fated boat, told Okha Police that burning firewood in the makeshift stove on board the wooden vessel caused the fire.

The deceased fishermen were identified as Sanjay Lakshmi Bamaniya, Parbat Ramji Bamaniya and Vijay Lakhsaman Vaghela. They were all residents of a village in Una tehsil of Gir-Somnath district, said the trawler owner, Manoj Babubhai Gosiya.
