A meeting of BJP core committee was held at Varsha, the official residence of Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, to discuss situation after the civic poll results and options in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Mumbai BJP president Ashish Shelar, who met Fadnavis with city unit functionaries and people's representatives before the meeting, said BJP won't compromise on the issue of transparency in BMC administration, which was the party's poll plank.

Shelar also ruled out any tie up with Congress in BMC, to reach the 114 figure needed for majority in the 227 member BMC.

With the elections to the BMC throwing up a fractured verdict, all eyes are on the Shiv Sena and the BJP, each of which notched up over 80 seats after fighting the polls separately.

Fadnavis, the architect of the BJP's stunning performance in BMC and other civic bodies across the state, had yesterday said his party's "core committee" comprising himself and the state unit chief will decide the next step.
