The No-trust motion brought against Vyasanagar Municipality Chairperson, Sabita Rout was again cancelled here today as none of the Councillors appeared for the voting.

"The no trust motion against Vyasanagar Municipality Chairperson was rejected as no councilor came for voting ," said Kalinga Nagar ADM, Abdul Alim Khan.

It is for the second time in just four months that a no confidence motion was brought against the Vyasanagar civic body chief.

As many as 13 BJD councillors of the Municipality had moved the no-confidence motion against the Chairperson last month and the voting was scheduled today.

But all the BJD and the Congress councillors abstained from voting today.

Nine Congress Councillors with the support of 13 BJD councillors had moved a no-confidence motion against her in September 7 last year.

Although all the Congress councillors voted in favour of the no trust motion, the BJD councillors abstained from the voting to pave victory of the party.

Hence the no trust motion was cancelled due to lack of required number of voting as per the guidelines.

Later Chairperson Rout was suspended from the BJD on charges of anti-party activities.

The 26 member Municipality has 18 BJD, nine Congress and one Independent Councillors.

Security had been beefed up earlier in the day in and around the Municipality premises with deployment of one platoon of police force for smooth conduct of the voting.
