Noida cop seen in video seeking bribe, suspended

A policeman in Noida was suspended and an enquiry ordered after a video surfaced in which he was purportedly seen seeking bribe from a man at a police post, officials said.

The policeman was deployed at Haridarshan Police Post, under Sector 24 police station in the city, since last one year, they said.

The purported video showed the policeman, Arvind Kumar, seeking bribe from an auto-rickshaw driver for releasing his impounded vehicle, an official said, adding that the incident took place around 15 days ago and the clip was made by another present at the police post.

The video had been doing the rounds on social media for the last two days.

 

"Taking congnisance of the video, Senior Superintendent of Police Ajay Pal Sharma ordered the suspension of Arvind Kumar, posted at Haridarshan post under Sector 24 police station, with immediate effect. The SSP has ordered a departmental enquiry into the charges levelled against the policeman," the police said in a statement.
