Noida District Magistrate N P Singh today held a meeting with officials of transport department and police, and issued directions to devise a plan to decongest the city roads and maintain smooth flow of traffic.
Traffic volume reduction measures suggested by various departments and residents should be incorporated into the action plan and implemented effectively from January 1, the district magistrate said.
The DM directed the District Inspector of School to discuss with schools managements and identify the traffic congestion spots near schools due to school buses and vehicles.

In the past, several directions were issued to schools to take their buses inside the school complex and then board the students and bus should proceed out smoothly without causing traffic jams on roads around schools but due to school managements indifference and ineffective implementation, the situation has been deterioriating day by day.
He said traffic congestion is a major problem in Noida. Due to ongoing construction of elevated roads and underpasses at several roads, traffic congestion is witnessed daily which during peak hours becomes the worst.
City Magistrate Bachu Singh said, "Auto-rickshaws cause traffic congestion near metro stations, especially at city centre and Sector 16 metro station and Sector 1 crossing. Drivers park the auto rickshaws haphazardly and block the entire road."
"Another bottleneck in smooth flow of traffic is roadside encroachment by vendors and dhabas. Regular demolition should be initiated to keep the main roads encroachment free," Singh said.
