Noida District Magistrate N P Singh today met representatives of IT firms to discuss various ways in which air pollution can be checked including carpooling.

As per officials, the representatives assured the DM that they will direct their staff to take measures in this regard and said that they had already asked their employees to do carpooling so as to reduce vehicle emissions in the city beside decreasing their expenses on conveyance.

The District Magistrate appealed to them to organise workshops to motivate people to check air pollution as well to spread awareness on traffic rules.

"Violations lead to accidents," Singh said, adding that carpooling scheme should be implemented effectively.

Asking IT firms to reschedule their office timings to reduce traffic volume at peak hours, he said, "In the past it was seen that time rescheduling and carpooling announcements by companies and industrial association remained only on paper and were just public announcements to get media attention."

Meanwhile, Residents Welfare Associations have extended support to initiatives taken by DM to check air pollution.

"We appreciate the DM's movement. All RWAs will help the administration in checking air pollution," said Rishipal Singh, RWA Sector 19 Noida president.
