A 35-year-old gym trainer was shot dead by a group of assailants who came in two vehicles in Salarpur village here, police said today.
The killing triggered protest by residents who blocked traffic on the Noida-Dadri road at Bhangel for over two hours.
Sajan Bhati was attacked when he was returning home in his car last evening.

Police said the assailants, travelling in two cars, waylaid him and sprayed bullets on him, before speeding away.
He was rushed to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Sajan was an accused in a three-year-old murder case, police said.
Police suspected that an old enmity led to the killing.
Sajan's relatives and neighbours today kept his body on the Noida-Dadri road and blocked traffic demanding immediate arrest of the culprits.
Senior police officers reached the spot and persuaded the protesters to lift the blockade.
An FIR has been registered against seven identified and some unidentified persons, based on a complaint filed by Sajan's father Gajraj Bhati.
Superintendent of Police (City) Arun Kumar Singh said three teams had been formed to arrest the killers.
