Nominations of 24 candidates were rejected Wednesday after scrutiny for 13 Lok Sabha constituencies which will go to polls in the first phase on April 29, an official said.
He said 154 candidates are in fray in the first phase.
Pankaj Choudhary, the dismissed IPS officer, is among the candidates whose nominations were rejected. He had filed nomination from the Barmer parliamentary seat on BSP ticket.
Choudhary has decided to challenge the election officer's decision of rejecting his nomination in the Rajasthan High Court.
Polling in the state will be done in two phases. In the first phase, polling will be done on 13 seats, including Tonk-Sawimadhapur, Ajmer, Pali, Jodhpur, Barmer, Jalore, Udaipur, Banswara, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Bhilwara, Kota and Jhalawar-Baran, in which over 2.57 crore will exercise their franchise on 28,182 polling stations.
Meanwhile, nomination filing process for the second phase of Lok Sabha elections in the state started on Wednesday and will continue till April 18.
Papers will be scrutinised on April 20 and names can be withdrawn till April 22.
