Irked over non-appearance a lawyer on behalf of Haryana, the Supreme Court today asked the state Home Secretary to appear in person before it on September 15.
A bench comprising Justices Ranjan Gogoi and N V Ramana issued the order when the counsel for the state did not appear during the hearing of a criminal appeal.
It later refused to modify the order when the state's counsel appeared and tried to explain the reasons for his non-appearance.
The bench said "let the Secretary appear as it has been observed the counsel for Haryana do not appear in some cases".
