The Additional District and Sessions Judge RS Rai issued the warrants after the five accused, suspended SP (Vigilance Bureau) Amandeep Kaur, head constable Harminder Singh, Rajinder Singh, Rajiv Sood and Paramjit Singh, failed to appear before the court today.

The next date of hearing has been fixed for December 20.

A Vigilance Bureau team, led by SP Kaur had arrested Ranjit Singh on March 29 last year after he was allegedly caught taking bribe to release goods of a trader.

In April he was granted bail by the court.

Three days later, Ranjit allegedly committed suicide at his Phase 2 residence here. Manjeet Kaur, his wife, filed a petition in the court alleging that her husband was implicated in a false case which forced him to take the extreme step.

Mohali district court then directed the police to register an FIR against the five accused, for "falsely trapping" the excise and taxation officer in the corruption case.

A special investigation team was formed to probe the case. Later, charge-sheet was also filed in the case.
