Non-disbursal of salaries to teachers of some madrasas in the state figured in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council debates today, with the government assuring the salaries will be disbursed once disputes pertaining to those institutions are settled.

Minorities Affairs Minister Laxmi Narayan Chaudhary said the disputes pertain to management, recognition and building- parameters.

"In Uttar Pradesh, there are 560 government-funded madrasas and the budegt for these has reached the respective districts. In 46 madrasas, the disbursement of salary to 298 teachers and employees is affected owing to various reasons," Chaudhary said during the Question Hour.

The director of the department has been asked to resolve the disputes within a month, he said, adding, once the disputes are resolved, the salary will be disbursed.

Responding to supplementaries, the minister said the government does not intend to block anyone's salary.

"Madrasas are facing various disputes and they were given time twice to resolve them. Once the parameters are complete and disputes resolved, salaries will be disbursed," he added.
