Goan giants Salgaocar have appointed Norberto Gonsalves as their new chief coach for the upcoming season.
Having started as an assistant coach with Salgaocar from 1995-2000, Norbert has gone on to coach various clubs around the country over a period of 20 years, a release issued by the club said.
Prior to becoming a coach, he was at the heart of the SFC defence for 12 years captaining the team to glory in the 1989 Federation Cup, it added. His experience will be a huge asset to the Greens.
On his appointment, the 58-year-old remarked, "I am really excited about joining Salgaocar as it is my former club as a player and has a great reputation. I am looking forward to the challenge".
