The pollution in the Yamuna river waters at Wazirabad pond has come down with the development allowing Delhi Jal Board to restore normal flow at both the Wazirabad and Chandrawal Water Treatment Plants.

According to a DJB statement today, the issue of the rise in pollution due to release of untreated industrial and domestic waste into the Yamuna from the Panipat drain was redressed after the same was taken up strongly with the Central Pollution Control Board and the Haryana Pollution Control Board.

As a result of concerted efforts at all levels, pollution in the Yamuna started receding since morning. That enabled DJB to restore normal production at both the Wazirabad and Chandrawal Water Treatment Plants, the statement said.

"DJB assures all the citizens of Delhi that the water being supplied by the Board is wholesome and potable," the statement said.
