Normal life was severely affected in Malkangiri district during a 12-hour bandh called by Congress demanding suspension and arrest of a BJD MLA on graft charges.
Shops, business establishments, educational institutions and offices remained closed in the tribal dominated district during the shut-down, officials said.
Vehicular movement was affected and roads wore a deserted look in different places including this district headquarter town as bandh supporters staged road blockade and picketing in many areas, police said.
The Congress also demanded a vigilance inquiry into alleged corruption in Malkangiri municipal body besides accusing MLA from Chitrakonda, Dambaru Sisa, of indulging in corruption.
