Normal life was affected today in Manipur in response to a 24-hour-long curfew call given by an outlawed militant organisation National Revolutionary Front of Manipur (NRFM).
The shutdown call was given in protest against alleged forced signing of merger agreement of Manipur into Indian Union on September 21, 1949 by Maharaja Bodh Chandra of Manipur at Shillong under duress, NRFM said.
All business establishments, shops, markets and entertainment houses remained closed due to the public curfew, said a senior police source, adding that all the inter-state and inter-district buses, taxis and autorickshaw services were also withdrawn today.
