Normal life was disrupted in Kashmir Valley today due to a strike called by hardline Hurriyat Conference to protest against the clashes in Kishtwar district that left two persons dead.
Shops, business establishments and petrol pumps remained closed, while government offices and banks witnessed thin attendance.
While schools remained shut because of Eid, colleges are closed on account of summer vacations.

Terming the situation in Kishtwar town as "extremely grave", Hurriyat had yesterday appealed to people to observe a general strike against the "biased approach" of the state administration in dealing with the situation in Kishtwar.
Hurriyat said the future course of action will be decided today after reviewing the situation in the affected areas.
Clashes between two communities left two persons dead and at least 20 injured in Kishtwar district where curfew was clamped and Army called in to assist the local administration in maintaining law and order.
