Normalcy returning in MP after floods, but more rains expected

Life today started limping back to normal in Madhya Pradesh after the rain fury which claimed 22 lives abated yesterday.

Sheopur district received the maximum rainfall of 26 mm between 8.30 am to 5.30 pm today. Some other districts also received rainfall but it was minimal, Indian Meteorological Department's Bhopal Centre Director Dr Anupam Kashyapi told PTI this evening.

However, heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Neemuch, Mandsaur, Jhabua, Guna, Sheopur, Hosangabad, Raisen, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Rajgarh, Shajapur, Shivpuri districts in the next 24 hours, he said.

Heavy rainfall alert has been issued for Hoshangabad district while downpour alert has been given for Betul, Khandwa, Sehore, Ujjain, Agar-Malwa, Khargone, Raisen, Ratlam, Chhindwara, Jabalpur, Alirajpur, Rajgarh and Shajapur districts for the next 24 hours.
 

"Sunshine was witnessed in some districts including Bhopal and Ujjain today. We did get some complaints of waterlogging from Sehore, Betul, Vidisha, Raisen and Gunna districts," State Disaster Response Force's Commandant Santosh Kumar Jat said in the evening.
