Chairman of Tripura Industries and Commerce Minister Pabitra Kar said the two-day summit, beginning on Jan 9, was aimed at attracting investment for setting up industries in the region.

It is also expected to help develop better business relations with countries like Bangladesh and other neighbours, he said.

Bangladesh Industries Minister Dilip Barua is likely to attend the summit, Kar said.

Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia, External Affairs Minister Salman Khurshid, DoNER Minister Paban Singh Ghatowar, several Chief Ministers and Industries ministers of the region are likely to attend the summit.

Kar said many resources of the region like bamboo, rubber and minerals remained untapped due to communication bottleneck and lack of proper initiative to undertake effective business with the neighbouring countries.
