North reels under cold

unrelenting cold wave as temperature in most parts of the region today refused to subside and water bodies in Kashmir Valley remained frozen.

It was a sunny but chilly Sunday for Delhiites today with the minimum temperature taking a slight dip from the normal level.

The low for the day was recorded at 7.0 degree Celsius, two degree below normal. Though there was a fog cover in the early hours, the thin veil gave way to the sun as the day progressed.

The maximum day temperature went up to 22 deg C, which is normal for this time of the season.

 

Kashmir Valley and Ladakh region shivered under intense cold wave as minimum temperatures hovered several degrees below the freezing point.

Water supply lines and water bodies, including the famous Dal lake, froze due to intense chill.

Leh town in Ladakh remained the coldest place in the state with the night temperature registering a low of minus 18.4 deg C, a spokesman of Met department said.

Kargil and frontier region of Ladakh witnessed minimum night temperature at minus 14.4 deg C .

The night temperature in summer capital Srinagar, which recorded the coldest night of this winter yesterday, settled a notch above at -4.8 deg C.

The minimum night temperature in the highway town of Qazigund in south Kashmir was minus 8.2 deg C as against yesterday's minus 8 deg C.

The minimum night temperature in hill resort Pahalgam of south Kashmir was slightly up at minus 11.4 deg C. MORE
