North West Railway gets more funds for 2015-16 in Budget: GM

The Railway Budget today allocated more funds to the North West Railway (NWR) for the next fiscal year (2015-16) as compared to the last year's allowance given to the section, officials said here.

NWR will get a total funds allocation of Rs 874.6 crore in next fiscal year which is 125.9 per cent more as compared to the funds of Rs 387.09 crore in 2014-15 going to be completed next month, NWR General Manager Anil Singhal said here.

A new railway line was also sanctioned to NWR on Ajmer- Nasirabad-Sawaimadhopur via Tonk at a cost of Rs 873 crore, the GM said.
 

Electrification of three rail lines covering 1573 kms at a cost of Rs 1423 crore was also approved under NWR, he said.

19 ROB's (Railway Over Bridges) and 30 RUB's (Railway Under Bridge) would fetch a budgetary support of Rs 800 crore, he said.

For modernisation of workshop the funds were increased from Rs 40 crore to Rs 88.5 crore this year which 112 per cent more, GM said.

NWR would spend Rs 96 crore on passenger amenities in next fiscal year, he said, adding the staff welfare fund would be Rs 34 crore.
