Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said that the Northeast region has witnessed development after Narendra Modi led government came to power at the Centre.
"Many news things have happened in the region over the past three years in the field of infrastructure - rail connectivity, roads, air connectivity and electricity, he said at the BJP headquarters here.
"Modiji believes that development is not possible without massive infrastructure development and that is why he is pushing it in the region," Sonowal, who arrived here to inaugurate MODI Fest at santir bazar in south Tripura district said.

"In Assam, the BJP government is committed to promote good governance in every sphere of life so that people could get their legitimate rights," he said, adding that the government has adopted zero tolerance against corruption.
"Altogether, 60 officials have been put behind the bars on corruption charges. The government will not spare anybody if he/she is found guilty of corrupt practice," the chief minister said.
On the issue of infiltration, Sonowal said he has personally visited some border districts of Assam including Dhubri, Mancachar, Karimganj and Cachar to take stock of the situation.
"We are against illegal infiltration from across the border," Sonowal said, adding that road blockade and shut down in Manipur is a cause of concern for the entire Northeast region.
Sonowal claimed that the BJP will form the next government in Tripura and end a long Marxist regime in the state.
"The Marxist regime has failed to live up to the people's expectation as the government lacks vision. Due to corrupt practice in flagship programmes including MGNREGA, Tripura could not grow during the Left regime," he said.
"BJP will form the next government in the state and ensure speedy development. BJP alone can topple the marxist regime in Tripura," Sonowal said.
