"It is a matter of serious concern that violent incidents are taking place in metropolitan cities particularly in Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune, where people from the northeast have been subjected to atrocities," Chairman of Northeast MPs Forum Mukul Mithi told reporters outside Parliament.

Terming the incidents as "unfortunate", the Congress MP from Arunachal Pradesh said, "the aftermath of Kokrajhar incidents is taking place across the country which is very unfortunate. This should stop."

Appealing for peace, Mithi said, "On behalf of all, I would appeal to the people in metro cities that such incidents should not be allowed to take place in future."

Mithi said, "We have already met Home Minister Sushilkumar Shinde, we are also talking to Prime Minister. They are also seriously concerned and taking all precautionary measures. They are talking to highest authorities in the states concerned."

He said government should take precautionary measures to stop these kinds of incidents. We would like to request state governments concerned particularly in Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Delhi to take steps to protect northeast people."
