Chief of Army's Northern Command Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra today reviewed the operational preparedness of the troops along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kashmir Valley.
Lt Gen Chachra, along with Chinar Corps Commander, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh, visited the Army units and formations in the Valley and reviewed the operational preparedness along the LoC and security situation in the hinterland, a defence spokesman said.
The spokesman said the primary focus of the visit of the commander, who is currently on a three-day visit to the Valley, was in the forward areas of Gurez, Machhal, Tangdhar and Gulmarg where he interacted with the troops.

Lt Gen Chachra also visited the Sector Head Quarters of Rashtriya Rifles located in the hinterland and praised the troops for exercising a very high degree of control over the internal security situation, upholding the highest ethos of Army and respecting the human rights of the people, he said.
The spokesman said Lt Gen Chachra expressed satisfaction with counter-infiltration and joint-intelligence grid, which has resulted in a series of successful counter-infiltration and counter-insurgency operations recently, during which 28 militants were killed.
The commander commended the high level of synergy between the security forces, the intelligence agencies and the state police, the spokesman said.
Lt gen Chachra, the spokesman said, assured the people of the Valley that Army will continue to defend the state from the "ulterior designs perpetrated by our neighbour" and continue to work for the sustained peace in the state.
