Northern Command chief briefs Omar on security in J-K

The General officer Commanding in Chief of Army's Northern Command Lt General K T Parnaik has met Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and briefed him about the security scenario in the state.

Lt Gen Parnaik, accompanied by GoC 15 Corps Lt Gen Om Prakash, called on the Chief Minister here last evening, an official spokesman said.

The army commander briefed Omar about the prevailing security scenario in the state, he said.

"Various matters relating to the security also came up for discussion during the meeting. The Army Commanders gave overview of the measures in place to strengthen the security grid and safeguard the life and property of the people," the spokesman said.
 

Lt Gen Parnaik is superannuating from service on June 30 and will be replaced by Western Command chief Lt Gen Sanjiv Chachra.
