Independent candidate Ravinder Singh Rana today dismissed rumours of him backing out from the Himachal Pradesh polls in favour of the Congress's nominee from the Dharamshala assembly seat.
Rana alleged that a few Congress workers were trying to create confusion among his supporters to dampen their spirit by spreading false information.
"Rumour is rife in some parts of the constituency that I have withdrawn from the contest. This is totally baseless and a mischief to mislead the people," he said at a press conference here ahead of the November 9 polls in the state.

Rana said that he and his supporters have stepped up campaigning and denied that he had backed out from the fray in favour of the Congress's candidate.
He appealed to the electorate of the Dharamshala constituency not to pay heed to such rumours and said those spreading it would get a befitting reply.
The Independent has never won an election from this seat where the main contest has always been between the BJP and the Congress.
The BJP has fielded former minister Kishan Kapoor from the seat and the Congress, Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma. In the last elections, Sharma defeated Kapoor by 5,000 votes.
