Actress-politician Nagma, the Congress's Lok Sabha poll candidate from Meerut, has told party workers here that she is not going to woo voters with her celebrity status but attempt to win the elections by the dint of hard work.
"I've been working for Congress for the past 10 years. I am putting in as much hard work in politics as I put into my film career," Nagma told reporters here.
Nagma replaced Dayanand Gupta as the Congress candidate for Meerut in the second list announced by the party on March 13.

A large crowd of local Congress workers had gathered to greet Nagma upon her arrival here with considerable jostling witnessed among them at the interaction with their party's candidate.
While talking to party workers, Nagma also appealed to UPA ally Ajit Singh's Rashtriya Lok Dal party to support her bid to win the Meerut seat.
Highlighting farmers' issues, she alleged that the ruling Samajwadi Party government in UP had failed to transfer the benefits of central schemes to agriculturalists in UP.
A Congress spokesperson, meanwhile, said that Nagma would be holding a roadshow in the area on March 19.
