DMK chief M Karunanidhi today regretted that the Tamil Nadu government had not convened the state Assembly to discuss various important issues.
"It is regrettable that the Tamil Nadu government has not convened the Assembly" (to discuss various important issues), he told reporters here.
DMK treasurer M K Stalin had demanded convening assembly session to discuss several important issues, including the proposed hike in electricity tariff.

Reacting to the demand, Chief Minister O Panneerselvam had said that "his government knew when to convene the assembly."
During the DMK regime, the assembly session that ended in July 2009 was convened next only in January 2010, he had said.
The present Assembly was adjourned sine die on August 12 after the budget session, which began on July 10.
