BJP MP Kirron Kher today said she does not favour the idea of celebrities who endorse brands being held accountable for misleading claims.

When asked at an event here that a law may be framed in this regard, Kirron the Chandigarh MP said, "the law has not been framed yet, when such a law is framed, then we will see".

"I don't think so that you can hold a brand ambassador (of a company or a product) responsible. Tomorrow, the manufacturer might make a change in it (the product) later on, how can you be responsible for what is being manufactured," she said.

"I don't think that is a possibility," she said.

Celebrities who endorse brands will be held accountable for misleading claims under the new Consumer Protection Act, Consumer Affairs Minister Ram Vilas Paswan had said in Mumbai last month.
