"After I became Union minister, I wrote to Mamata Banerjee asking for appointment as I wanted to discuss with her many development projects in the state like setting up of an AIIMS type hospital...But I did not receive any reply from her," the MoS Health said at a public meeting here.

Congress leader and Union minister of state for Urban Development Deepa Dasmunshi and other Congress leaders wanted the AIIMS type hospital in West Bengal to be set up in Raiganj in North Dinajpur district while the Trinamool Congress government wanted the hospital near Kalyani in Nadia district.

"I had asked the chief minister to forget political differences for the sake of the development of the state. If we forget our political differences then we could do a lot of development work for the state but she has not replied to my letters," Khan Chowdhury alleged.

He claimed that a technical university named after his late elder brother A B A Ghani Khan Chowdhury, a former railway minister, would be set up in Malda district and for this their family is donating the land as the West Bengal government refused to give it.
