Noted cartoonist passes away

Veteran journalist and cartoonist Ram Ugrah has passed away in the United States.

He was 74 and is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.

His son Prakash is an Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer currently posted in United Nations.

Family sources said Ugrah's mortal remains will be flown from the US for cremation here.

Ugrah had worked in The National Herald and The Times of India.

Last year, his book of cartoons had been released by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and then Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit in separate functions at Lucknow and Delhi.
