A notice has been issued to an independent candidate from Badshahpur constituency for alleged violation of the Model Code of Conduct, which is in place ahead of the October 15 Assembly elections in Haryana.

Returning Officer (RO) of Badshahpur constituency and Additional Deputy Commissioner P S Chauhan has issued the notice to independent candidate Mukesh Sharma, who allegedly organized a public meeting without taking requisite permission from the RO.

Acting on a media report published in a Hindi daily yesterday which claimed that Sharma has addressed a number of political meetings without taking any prior permission from the RO, a notice was issued against him, Chauhan said.

Shrama has been asked to reply within 48 hours and warned that if no reply is received within the stipulated time, strict action would be taken against him under Election rules.

The Model Code of Conduct has come into force since September 12 ahead of the polling to the 90-member House scheduled to be held on October 15 and counting on October 19.
