: Madras High Court bench has ordered notice to Ramanathapuram District Superintendent and Inspector of that town, among others, while admitting a Habeas Corpus Petition, seeking to produce R Raguram, Titular Jamin for Pallyampatti Jamin, who owns highly valuable properties.
Justices S Manikumar and V S Ravi ordered notice to the two officials, apart from A Ramalingam,a government official, Shanmugaraja and Balamurali, Manager of the Playampatti Estate Office, while admitting the HCP.
Petitioner R.Padmaraja, son of Raguram,said his father was in illegal custody of IAS officer Ramalingam, Shanmugaraja and Balamurali.

He alleged that Ramalingam, the brother-in-law of Raguram and a person with sufficient politidcal clout, had entered into a criminal conspiracy and had detained his father with an aim to seize the properties.
The Petitioner said he could not talk to his father, who was missing from the native town.His grandmother had told him told him that the trio had detained her son by using drugs.
Padmaraja said he had requested them to release his father, but to no avail.He had also lodged a police complaint, but no action had been taken so far due to Ramalingam's political clout, he alleged.
Ramalingam had detained his father as he wanted to get his properties he said and sought a direction for his father to be produced in court in person.
