Press Trust of India New Delhi
National Human Rights Commission has served notices to top Delhi officials including Chief Secretary, Police Commissioner and Jal Board chairman over the electrocution of a nine-year-old in a DDA park.

The Commission has also tasked the Chief Secretary with submitting a report on the ground level mechanism for monitoring and maintenance of defective wires or related equipments.

Reportedly, the boy, Saurabh Sharma succumbed to electric shocks after touching a defective live switch box of a DJB tube well in the park at Badarpur.

The locals had complained to DJB officials to rectify the defective switch box but no action was taken, the Commission noted.

DJB Chairman has been also asked to submit a report on the action taken against officials who allegedly ignored the complaints, it said.

All the officials have been given two weeks to respond with a factual report.
