Notices to Sangrur candidates for code violation

Showcause notices were today issued to three key contestants of the Sangrur Lok Sabha seat, including sitting Congress MP Vijay Inder Singla, for allegedly violating the model code of conduct.

Apart from Singla, notices were issued to SAD candidate and Rajya Sabha MP Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and Aam Aadmi Party nominee Bhagwant Mann, an election office spokesman said here today.

The notices were issued by District Electoral Officer-cum Deputy Commissioner Kavita Singh.

They have were directed to respond within 24 hours.

Singla is accused of getting published paid news in a newspaper while Dhindsa was allegedly found accompanied by more than five persons while filing his nomination papers yesterday.
 

The AAP candidate has been accused of campaigning on the social media without taking permission from the media monitoring cell.
