Notification for local body polls in Andhra Pradesh is likely to be issued in fifteen days' time, Panchayat Raj Minister K Jana Reddy said today.

Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy had earlier said that local body elections in the state could be held in July- August.

Jana Reddy said Gram Panchayat polls would be held without party affiliations while Mandal Praja Parishad and Zilla Praja Parishad elections are to be conducted on party basis.

Meanwhile, Congress Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao urged the CM to consider the entire state as a unit for providing reservations.

While some upper caste leaders have reportedly sought reservations keeping the district as a unit, such a move would be unfair to the backward classes, Rao said.

Rao, also the convener of the Parliamentary Forum of OBC MPs, is learnt to have written to the CM in this regard.
