Notification for election to the three Rajya Sabha seats in Rajasthan will be issued on March 5 and the last date for filing nomination is March 12, a state commission official said today.
The Election Commission yesterday announced that polls to 59 Rajya Sabha seats, of which three are in Rajasthan, will be held on March 23.
"The election process will start with the commission notification on March 5. The last date for filing the nomination is March 12," Rajasthan Chief Electoral Officer Ashwini Bhagat said in a statement.
The tenures of BJP MP Bhupender Yadav, Congress Rajya Sabha MPs Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Narendra Budania expires on April 3 this year.
Bhagat said the scrutiny of nominations will be done on March 13 whereas the last date for withdrawing names will be March 15.
"The voting will be done at a notified polling station in the state Assembly premises on March 23 (9am to 4pm) and counting will be done on same day at 5 pm. The election process shall be completed before March 26," he added.
