Delhi Women and Child Development Minister Sandeep Kumar today said a notification to set up a Commission of Enquiry to probe cases of sexual harassment in which police have not taken action will be issued in next three to four days.
Kumar told the Delhi Assembly that Dinesh Dayal, a retired District Court Judge, will chair the Commission, which will have two members.
The Delhi Cabinet had in July passed a proposal to set up the Commission of Enquiry to probe cases of sexual harassment in which police have not taken action despite a stringent anti-rape law which had come into force.
"It is proposed to set up a Commission of Enquiry under the Commission of Inquiry Act to receive complaints from victims of sexual harassment or stalking or voyeurism in whose cases appropriate action has not been taken, since February 2013, when the new law was introduced but still the victims did not get justice," Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia had said after the Cabinet's decision.
The Commission would enquire into these complaints and suggest appropriate action in each of them.
According to government, it will suggest amendments to the CrPC, if any required, on the basis of the complaints and recommend if action ought to be taken against officers in "cases of gross negligence or collusion".
