Notification issued for April 11 Assembly elections in Bengal

The Election Commission today issued notification for second part of the first phase Assembly elections in West Bengal, starting the process of filing nominations for polling in 31 seats on April 11.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dibyendu Sarkar said different observers for this phase would arrive here soon to take over their responsibilities.

Candidates contesting this phase will be able to file their nominations upto March 21, while scrutiny of papers will be held on March 22 and the date of withdrawal will end on March 26, Sarkar said.

"Entire arrangement for the second part of first Phase polling for 31 seats in West Midnapore, Bankura and Burdwan districts is in final stage," he said.
 

The four-step non-CAPF (Central Armed Police Forces) measures comprising micro-observers, normal camera, video camera and webcasting would be there in this phase too, Sarkar said.

The Assembly election will be held in six phases, of which the first phase will be in two parts.
