Notorious chain snatcher arrested

An alleged notorious chain snatcher, who had been declared a proclaimed offender and was wanted in a MCOCA case, has been arrested by Delhi Police.

Sandip aka Kalia was arrested yesterday from Haidarpur village in north-west Delhi, police said today.

With the arrest of Sandip, thirteen cases, including looting of gold chains, registered at various police stations in Delhi have been worked out, DCP of North West district police, Gnan Sambandan said.

During interrogation, Sandeep, a resident of Mongolpuri, confessed to have recently snatched 16 gold chains from different parts of Delhi.

Sandeep was one of the most active members of the notorious 'Vicky gang'. The gang was well organised and a case under MCOCA (Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime) Act has been registered against it, a police official said
 

Sandeep's sustained interrogation revealed that he had been previously involved in 40 cases of snatching, robbery and bootlegging, he added.
