Novelist Prabhakaran selected for Muttathuvarkey award

The award has been instituted by Muttathuvarkey Foundation in memory of noted Malayalam litterateur Muttathuvarkey who died on May 28, 1989.

The award, carrying a cash of Rs 33,333, citation and a plaque, will be presented to him at a function in Vadakara in Kozhikode on May 28, Foundation Committee convenor M K Madhavan Nair told reporters here today.

The award was declared today, being the 98th birthday of Muttathuvarkey.

Prabhakaran has authored eight novels and short stories, two dramas and three poems, he said, adding most of his stories were translated into English, German, Hindi, Tamil, Telegu, Urudu and Kannada. PTI GKN BN
