People can now even book a train or a coach on the Internet as part of Railways' efforts to expand the scope of online booking.
Announcing a proposal in this regard in his budget speech today, Railway Minister Sadananda Gowda said, "Trains and coaches can even be booked online apart from booking a berth and a seat in a chair car."
He said online booking facility in railway retiring rooms will also be extended to all stations during the course of the year.

As Railways carries a lot of business travellers, the minister also proposed to provide workstations in select trains on payment basis to add best value to their time. A pilot project will be launched soon in this regard.
The Railways, he said, also proposes to involve individuals, NGOs, trusts, charitable institutions and corporates to provide passenger amenities at stations.
