The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) will now arrange for door-to-door collection of e-waste and dispose it off scientifically to save the residents from health hazards caused by it if left untreated.
"To put a robust e-waste collection and disposal system in place, we have arranged for free door-to-door pick up, established five collection centres and are empanelling agencies or start ups to encourage recovery of value from e-waste," a senior NDMC official said.
The residents can either request for free home pickup or drop these items at collection points and the items will be scientifically disposed off later to avoid any environmental hazard.

The public can access the service through official mobile application of the council-NDMC 311.
"With increasing use of electronic and IT related goods at domestic and commercial level generation of e-waste has increased manifold. E-Waste if left untreated and disposed unscientifically can create severe health hazards like damage to central and peripheral; nervous systems, effects brain development and damage kidney," the official added.
