They are likely to do this week-end or early next week, while BJP and NCP have announced their candidates for a few seats.
NPF said the list would be formally announced only after a coordination meeting with its alliance partners, which include BJP and JD-U sometime next week.
Congress sources on the other hand said its leaders have left for New Delhi for finalizing the list of candidates after senior party leaders, including Union Petroleum Minister Verappa Moily visited the state yesterday.
BJP sources said a coordination meeting with Democratic Alliance of Nagaland would be held on January 25 and the names of the other candidates to be fielded would be decided depending on the technical feedings of the meeting.
Election Commission has notified that filing of nominations will commence on January 30, while the last date would be February 6. The last date of withdrawal of candidatures is February 9. Polling will be held on February 23 and counting of votes would take place on February 28.
Meanwhile, election office here said all preparations were being made for smooth conduct of poll in the state.
